Modular base frame system for maximum individuality

MTF Technik offers a unique range of different underframes for conveyor belts. The underframes must be as individual and flexible as the applications and geometries are diverse. A small, straight discharge belt mounted flat above the floor requires a completely different frame than a large, angled Z-conveyor belt that needs to be adjusted at regular intervals. A conveyor belt that is permanently anchored to the floor must fulfil completely different functions than a mobile device that is to be used on many different production machines.

For these customer-specific tasks, MTF Technik has developed its own modular system of different base frames. The modular system consists of a large number of different type modules. These are individual profiles, tubes, wheel holders, gas pressure springs, gas pressure columns, welded constructions, etc., which can be combined with different base frames.

This results in a range of more than 250 different standardised base frame variants. Depending on the length and width of the conveyor belt in combination with the required feed and discharge heights, this results in an infinite number of possible combinations and solutions. This makes the conveyor belts from MTF Technik unique. Functionally, stability, flexibility and user-friendliness are at the forefront. To this end, MTF Technik has developed a whole range of its own aluminium profiles and aluminium castings that are compatible with the conveyor belt profiles and complement each other perfectly. During the project planning stage, MTF Technik engineers configure the individual modules to create a customised complete solution.

We would be happy to provide you with personal advice for your individual requirements.

Questions and answers about Base frames

Which base frame can be used to conveniently change the conveying angle of an angular conveyor belt?

MTF Technik offers various base frames depending on the conveyor belt dimensions, which allow the conveyor angle to be adjusted easily and conveniently. In particular, there are various types of base frames for this purpose that use gas pressure springs. These are integrated into telescopic tube constructions and their spring force is adjusted to the conveyor belt dimensions and weight. This means that the conveyor angle can be easily adjusted by one person, even for very large and heavy conveyor belts.

Are mobile conveyor belt bases also available?

Yes. Virtually all MTF base frame types are available in stationary and mobile versions. Castors with a diameter of Ø75 mm are used as standard. For larger and heavier devices, wheels with a diameter of Ø100 mm, Ø125 mm or Ø160 mm are used. In addition, there is a whole range of different swivel castors and fixed castors, with and without locking brakes in different diameters, materials and designs, which are planned according to the individual task.

In which areas can the height of a conveyor belt be adjusted?

The height adjustment range of a conveyor belt depends on the type of base frame selected. There is usually a significant difference in the way the base frame is attached to the conveyor belt. If the base frame is attached below the belt body, either fixed or telescopic profiles are generally used. In this case, the height adjustment range is correspondingly limited. The minimum height is determined by the longest telescopic profile, and the maximum height is determined by adding the two profile lengths (minus a technically necessary overlap length).

Base frames that are mounted on the side of the conveyor belt usually offer a significantly greater height adjustment range. Here, the belt body can be moved along the entire length of the profile.

Are there special bases for ESD applications?

For ESD applications, i.e. tasks in which electrical charges must be deliberately dissipated, special rollers that are electrically conductive can be used. In addition, in such cases, all base frames are connected separately to the conveyor belt frame in an electrically conductive manner.

Are there special bases for cleanroom applications?

In clean room applications, it is very important that all components of a device are easily accessible and easy to clean. MTF Technik offers various base frame variants made of smooth aluminium profiles. Any grooves can be closed with plastic profiles if required to create surfaces that are as smooth and closed as possible.

For mobile base frames, special Pevothan wheels in stainless steel housings can be used if required. These have a high load-bearing capacity, are track-free, highly abrasion-resistant and have good shock absorption properties. These characteristics are particularly important for sensitive floors and environmental conditions.

Are there bases available that allow the height of the conveyor belt to be easily adjusted?

Yes. The IE 010 base frame can be used in particular for smaller conveyor belts up to approx. 2 m in length and up to 500 mm in width. It has a lockable gas pressure spring that can be operated via a foot switch. This makes it very easy to adjust the height of the conveyor belt. This base frame type is particularly recommended where there is little personnel available and the conveyor belts have to be adjusted frequently (e.g. in contract manufacturing with a highly variable production programme).

How many different bases does MTF Technik offer?

MTF Technik offers an extremely comprehensive range of different base frame variants. Over 250 different base frames can be configured as standard, which can then be adapted to the respective conveyor belt in terms of length, width and height. This results in almost endless combination possibilities.

The base frames can also be customised in various installation variants, i.e.

• mobile
• stationary
• stationary with floor mounting
• mobile with floor mounting
• stationary with floor locking
• mobile with floor locking
• Swivel castors
• Fixed castors
• Etc.

What are diagonal braces or cross braces used for?

Diagonal and cross braces are used between the vertical profiles of a conveyor belt base frame. These braces provide a truss-like structure for the frame, particularly in larger conveyor belts, and greatly increase stability. This ensures excellent stability.

What is a belt support and how does it differ from an underframe?

A small angle conveyor belt can, for example, be mounted in a single base frame, which is installed in the steep belt section. The flat belt section can then hang freely.

However, if the flat belt section becomes longer, the centre of gravity shifts and the single stand can no longer absorb the resulting tilting moment. In this case, the flat belt could be additionally supported with individual supports to neutralise the moment. A base frame with additional belt supports is used, for example, when the flat belt section has to be integrated into inaccessible machine shafts where a continuous base frame underneath the entire conveyor belt is not possible.
