This 4-way drop switch is a combination of a rotary shaft switch and a flap switch. Both are driven by electric motors. This drive concept is particularly suitable for use in cleanrooms. Compared to pneumatically operated switches, this has the advantage that no compressed air escapes and therefore no air turbulence is created.

In the rotary shaft mechanism patented by MTF Technik, a closed system of side walls and a changeover flap rotates within a housing. This eliminates any gaps between the changeover flap and the side walls where small parts could become trapped. Likewise, there is no relative movement between the two elements, thus preventing abrasion. The rotary shaft is responsible for the initial division of the conveyed flow and directs the products into two steeply inclined shafts, each equipped with an electrically driven flap mechanism. In this design, the diverter primarily serves as a distribution diverter to fill a total of four containers, thereby allowing for a certain degree of buffering or reducing spillage in a large container. The switching speed between the end positions is between 1.0 and 1.5 seconds with this type of drive. Thus, the diverter is particularly suitable for the targeted distribution of parts flows or as a quality diverter. Like all MTF Technik diverters, this type is completely custom-designed and constructed. This design is primarily mounted at the discharge of conveyor belts or other feeding devices. Depending on the product range, the rotary chute, hopper, and discharge chutes can be manufactured from structured stainless steel sheets to prevent parts from sticking. Special non-stick coatings can also be applied if required. Likewise, the discharge chutes can be equipped with transparent covers, inspection hatches, etc., according to customer specifications. In addition to the geometric adaptation, the electrical interface is also designed according to customer requirements. Depending on which interfaces and signals the production machine or existing control system has, the switch is designed accordingly.

Patented rotating shaft mechanism effectively prevents small or tapered parts from becoming jammed.
