The PZ 257 B separating drum, featuring the planetary central adjustment developed by MTF Technik, is the bestseller and simultaneously the benchmark among separating drums. It consists of a drum cage with ten pairs of rollers that can be easily adjusted to new part geometries in just a few seconds using a central adjustment mechanism.
Between the pairs of rollers, there are 10 separation gaps with a continuously adjustable opening dimension between 3 mm and 53 mm. The length of each separation gap is approximately 700 mm (optionally 500 mm, 1,000 mm, or 1,200 mm). The rollers are made of PVC, galvanized steel, or stainless steel. Two rollers are connected to each other in pairs via a belt. Another belt is stretched across the entire drum cage, so that all rollers rotate in opposite directions when the cage rotates. This special feature of the MTF design means that parts are significantly less likely to jam and separation performance is significantly improved compared to rigid rods. The drum cage is loosely mounted on four wheels, one of which serves as the drive wheel, driven by a high-torque planetary gear motor. The wheels are mounted in a welded base frame lined with anodized aluminum sheets, which guide the smaller parts into containers below the drum cage. Depending on the desired application, the sheets can optionally be made of stainless steel or galvanized sheet metal with various surfaces.
The inlet ring of the drum cage is lined with a screw lining made of PVC (optionally also made of steel or stainless steel) to both calm the parts as they enter the cage and to transport them safely to the separation area. The material is collected via a pivoting inlet chute made of anodized aluminum, attached to the base frame. This chute is lined with polyamide (optionally galvanized steel or stainless steel) for sound insulation and part protection.
To separate more than two different fractions, the inlet and/or outlet ring of the drum can be equipped with holes or sleeve tubes, for example. This allows for combinations of perforated/roller separation drums or sleeve/roller separation drums.
All adjustments to the separation drum regarding height, inclination, size of the separation gap, inclination and position of the inlet chute, etc., can be made without tools and in seconds. This makes the separator extremely flexible and makes it the first choice, especially for a wide range of parts requiring multiple changeovers.
Optimal separation results
High-quality, high-performance and high-torque planetary gear motors
No jamming or damage to the parts to be separated due to counter-rotation of the separating rollers
Height and inclination of the separating drums can be easily and continuously adjusted
The drum cages are easily replaceable
Tool-free adjustment of the separation gap
