The SSA 400-3 roller separator is a particularly versatile disc separator attachment, specifically designed for separating difficult-to-separate components. Unlike traditional separating rollers, this system uses separately loaded disc elements mounted on rotating rollers. This creates regularly recurring, open gaps between the discs, through which smaller parts—usually molded parts or sprues—can fall through in a controlled manner, while larger or longer parts are transported further to the discharge plate.
The principle is similar to that of separating roller separation, but the individually configurable configuration of the rollers with discs allows for even finer adaptation to complex geometries or particularly delicate part geometries. The SSA 400 separator attachment is available in various widths – typically for conveyor belt widths between 200 and 500 mm – and can be easily retrofitted to both MTF conveyors and third-party equipment. A typical application is in combination with an NL-HE 020 angled conveyor belt.
The separator configuration can be flexibly adapted: Depending on requirements, 1, 2, or 3 disc rollers are available, with the number, spacing, and positioning of the disc segments freely selectable. This allows precise adjustment to a wide range of parts, especially delicate, long, or adhesive parts that are difficult to handle with conventional separation methods.
The drive is provided by an integrated drum motor that operates independently of the conveyor belt. The speed is adjustable in 15 steps from 8 to 140 rpm, allowing the separation speed to be optimally adapted to the material properties. The integrated overload protection protects both the device and the operating personnel in the event of blockages or jams. The planetary gear motor used ensures particularly efficient and long-lasting operation with minimal energy consumption.
A further advantage is the tool-free adjustment of the separation gap – This can be changed in seconds, enabling quick product changes without long downtimes. This makes the SSA 400-3 ideal for production environments with varying part sizes or different material combinations.
For applications with higher part throughput or more complex geometries, the system is also available as a floor-standing unit under the designation SESSA 600-3. This variant is particularly suitable for the separation of long, slender parts or small nozzles, as is often the case in medical technology, electronics, or precision engineering. The standard separation lengths are 600 mm and 800 mm.
The SESSA 600-3 floor-standing disc separator is mounted on a mobile base frame with telescopic aluminum profiles, allowing easy and precise height and tilt adjustment without tools. Here, too, the disc rollers can be individually equipped and their spacing can be flexibly adjusted – ideal for maximum flexibility for changing requirements.
