With the rectangular drum type 3 R7 B, MTF Technik presents an innovative solution in the field of separation technology, specifically developed for demanding sorting tasks. This novel separation drum is based on a process patented by MTF Technik for the efficient prevention of part jamming and represents a consistent further development of the proven MTF separation solutions. It is used wherever classic separation concepts reach their limits – especially with soft, sticky, or tangling parts, as well as with items with minimal size differences. A characteristic feature of this design is a specially shaped, rectangular drum cage with four tangentially extending separating slots that can be selectively opened via a mechanically controlled mechanism. This targeted, brief opening of the separating slots efficiently prevents components from becoming jammed or damaged in the slots during separation – a common problem with conventional drum designs. The separating slots can be continuously adjusted from 0 mm to 60 mm, thus enabling very precise adaptation to the specific sorting task. For simple and reproducible adjustment, each separating gap has a measuring scale from which the opening dimension can be read precisely. Adjustment is quick and easy, allowing for changeovers in a very short time. This represents a decisive advantage in everyday production, especially with frequently changing product types. Another special feature is the shape of the separating gap. It consists of two 80 mm long, parallel surfaces. This prevents complex part geometries (e.g., complex three-dimensional parts or angles) from "wriggling" through the separating gap, as can sometimes happen in roller separating drums or perforated drums. The separating slots are each 700 mm long (500 mm optional). The rectangular drums are also particularly well-suited for materials that tend to snag or would easily jam in conventional separating slots. These include, for example, soft plastics, rubber-like materials, or delicate components. The drum cage is made entirely of smooth stainless steel sheets as standard. Thus, it meets the highest hygiene standards and can also be used in cleanroom environments, e.g., in medical technology. Like all separation drums from MTF Technik, the rectangular drum type 3 R7 B also features stepless height and tilt adjustment, ensuring optimal adaptation to the respective separation task and production process. The entire drum cage can be easily replaced if required – either with a version featuring rollers, sleeves, or holes. This ensures maximum flexibility for a wide variety of applications at all times. The rectangular separating drum type 3 R7 B combines precise mechanics, practical operation, and maximum adaptability in a compact and robust system. This makes it the ideal solution for production environments with sensitive components, frequently changing part geometries, or special hygiene requirements. Thanks to the patented opening principle of the separating slots, it sets new standards in the safe, damage-free, and efficient separation of parts – even under the most challenging conditions.

Stainless steel drum cages, also suitable for cleanroom applications

Height and tilt of the rectangular drum are easily and continuously adjustable.

Precise adjustment of the separating gap for complex component geometries

Multi-stage separation is possible in a rectangular cage (e.g., perforated inlet or outlet ring).

A separating gap with parallel surfaces prevents complex components from passing through.
