The S 307 B segment separating drum is an extension of the MTF Technik range of separating drums. It is primarily used for complex sorting tasks where conventional technologies reach their limits. The drum cage consists of a hexagonal stainless-steel base frame fitted with individually manufactured plastic segment plates.
The segment plates are manufactured using a 3D printing process, allowing almost any geometry to be realized. These segment plates can, for example, be used to separate components of the same height but with different surface dimensions. Unlike a conventional perforated drum, they can also be used to create, for example, funnel-shaped geometries or specially designed three-dimensional separation gaps.
The design and engineering of the segment plates are fully customized for each individual application. The smaller parts fall through the openings, while the larger parts are conveyed towards the drum discharge.
The drum cage can easily be divided into several zones, allowing more than two fractions to be separated. In this case, the segment plates are arranged so that the smallest parts fall through the openings first, followed by the components in ascending order of size.
The segment plates are also easy to replace, making it possible to cover a wide range of variants while saving space. Whereas several drum cages would previously have been required, only the product-specific segment plates need to be replaced, significantly reducing the space required.
The rotational speed and inclination of the drum cage can be adjusted continuously to ensure optimum separation performance for a wide variety of part geometries.
A special feature is the option of flexibly exchanging different drum cages on a single base frame. For example, various perforated cages with different opening geometries, as well as roller separating drum cages or rectangular cages, can be mounted on the same base frame. This enables the separation of a maximum range of different parts.
All variants share the same robust mechanical foundation: high-torque planetary gear motors ensure constant or continuously adjustable drum speeds, while a pivoting infeed chute with a cushioning polyamide lining optimizes part guidance. The cover and functional panels are made of anodized aluminum or galvanized sheet steel - stainless steel is also available on request - ensuring long service life and easy cleaning. The base frame is designed as a robust, electro-galvanized, bright-zinc-plated double-column system with four swivel castors, combining stability with mobility.
The S 307 B segment separating drum is a prime example of the high flexibility and application-specific design of our separation technology. Whether used in plastics processing, stamping technology or cleanroom applications, its numerous variants, expansion options and customized adaptations provide an efficient, reliable and economical solution for complex sorting processes.
Optimal separation results even with highly complex part geometries, thanks to flexibly configurable plate segments
