Task: Transport and buffering of medical items in a deep-freeze cell

Vaccines, which are packaged in small blisters in a Class ISO 5 cleanroom, are to be transported from the packaging machine and through a wall into a deep-freeze cell at -20°C.

The wall opening should be made as small as possible.

The blisters are then to be evenly distributed among 4 large containers in the freezer.

The containers should be filled in layers, avoiding any cones of spillage, to ensure the vaccine freezes as quickly as possible.

The parts must not be damaged during transport or fall off the conveyor belt.

In the cleanroom, it must be possible to perform a quality control inspection of the parts before they are transported towards the freezer cell.

The rooms are regularly cleaned with special cleaning agents and fumigated. The materials used must be correspondingly resistant.

Solution: Small conveyor belts in special design with diverter

MTF I-Tech small conveyor belts in special design for transporting blisters

All components in stainless steel or anodized aluminum

Special belts on the conveyor belts with a temperature resistance down to -30°C and a roughened surface to prevent parts from sticking to the belt.

A conveyor belt, mounted on a longitudinal axis and movable along the axis, serves as a transfer route through the wall between the cleanroom and the freezer cell. This conveyor belt can be completely pulled out during gas purging of the cleanroom to create an airtight seal.

Pneumatic diverter valve at the outlet of the transfer belt through the wall to distribute the conveyed flow onto two longitudinally movable conveyor belts for filling the large containers.

An electric linear axis with 12 stop positions, combined with diverters at the outlets of the movable conveyor belts, enables 24 discharge positions for the parts into the containers for optimal cooling and distribution.
