ESD-compliant conveyor belt
Task: ESD-compliant transport of automotive components
Automotive components with integrated circuit boards are to be transported between two assembly work steps via conveyor belt.
A key requirement is that the components must not be damaged by electrostatic charging; that is, the conveyor belt must be ESD-compliant.
Solution: Use of a highly conductive conveyor belt
Conveyor belt type GL-HM 010 with special (highly conductive) belt. The belt has a surface resistance of 185 ohms and also has ATEX approval according to category 2, KEMA 05ATEX2164 U (for comparison: a "normal" PU or PVC belt has a surface resistance of approx. 1 x 10^15 ohms; EN-ISO 284 defines a maximum of 3 x 10^8 ohms as antistatic).
The conveyor belt frame and the substructures are conductively connected to each other and additionally grounded.
The conveyor belt has special, electrically conductive rollers.
