The Type 307 B separation drum is one of the most versatile and customizable separation solutions in the MTF range. It is specifically designed for separating components of the same height but with different surface areas. For example, plastic injection-molded parts can be separated from the sprue, or stamped parts can be separated from stamped waste. Smaller parts fall through the defined holes in the drum cage, while larger parts are forwarded to the output side.
The rotation speed and inclination of the drum cage can be continuously adjusted to ensure optimal separation performance for a wide variety of part geometries. The hole geometries are designed entirely on a customer-specific basis, depending on the components to be separated. Round holes, elongated holes, star-shaped openings, or any other special shape can be used.
Several consecutive hole arrays with different opening sizes are also possible, allowing more than two different-sized parts to be separated in one pass and transported to different containers. In the Type 307 B version, the separation drum has a separation length of 700 mm. Depending on the part complexity and throughput, 500mm, 1,000mm, or 1,200mm long separating drum cages can also be used.
The drum cages are made of stainless steel as standard, but can also be made of silicone, rubber, galvanized sheet steel, powder-coated sheet steel, etc. upon request. Special surfaces, such as textured stainless steel or glass bead-blasted surfaces to prevent part adhesion, are also possible. This ensures that even sensitive products are not damaged.
A special feature of the MTF concept is the ability to flexibly interchange drum cages on a base frame. For example, various perforated cages with different opening geometries, as well as roller separation drum cages or rectangular cages, can be mounted on the base frame to separate a maximum range of parts.
The perforated drum cages also form the basis for the sleeve separation drums (also called hedgehog drums), in which sleeve tubes are welded onto the outside of the drum cages, which then serve as separation channels for complex part geometries.
All variants share a solid mechanical foundation: high-torque planetary gear motors ensure constant or continuously variable drum speeds. while a pivoting infeed chute with a cushioning polyamide pad optimizes part guidance. The cladding and functional panels are made of anodized aluminum or galvanized sheet steel – also available in stainless steel upon request – and guarantee durability and ease of cleaning. The base frame is designed as a robust, bright galvanized double-column system with four castors, offering both stability and mobility.
The Type 307 B separation drum exemplifies the high flexibility and application-specific design of MTF separation technology. Whether in plastics processing, punching technology, or cleanrooms – Thanks to its numerous variants, expansion options, and customer-specific adaptations, it always offers an efficient, safe, and economical solution for complex sorting processes.
